Preliminary Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary June 19-25, 2023
Fishery Reports:
Lower Columbia River, Megler-Astoria Bridge upstream to Bonneville Dam – 407 salmonid boats and 362 Washington bank rods were tallied during Saturday’s (6/24) flight count.
Mainstem Columbia River
Salmon/Steelhead:
Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 108 bank anglers kept four Chinook, one jack, four sockeye and released two Chinook. 13 boats/25 rods kept six Chinook.
Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 18 boats/36 rods had no catch.
Sec 3 (I-5 area) – 49 bank anglers kept one steelhead, eight sockeye and released one jack. 8 boats/15 rods kept two sockeye.
Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 49 bank anglers kept two Chinook, three sockeye and released one steelhead. 17 boats/31 rods kept two Chinook and released two steelhead.
Sec 5 (Woodland) – 118 bank anglers kept four Chinook, one sockeye and released one steelhead. 7 boats/17 rods kept four Chinook and released one Chinook.
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 245 bank anglers kept 10 Chinook, one steelhead, four sockeye and released four Chinook, one steelhead and one sockeye. 29 boats/80 rods kept seven Chinook and released two Chinook.
Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – 13 boats/52 rods kept eight Chinook, two steelhead, one sockeye and released four Chinook.
Sec 8 (Longview) – 143 bank anglers kept eight steelhead, four sockeye and released one Chinook, three steelhead and two sockeye. 76 boats/163 rods kept 11 Chinook, one jack, five steelhead, four sockeye and released four Chinook and one jack.
Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 30 bank anglers kept one sockeye and released two steelhead. 1 boat/2 rods had no catch.
Sec 10 (Cathlamet) – Nine bank anglers kept one steelhead.
Sturgeon:
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 1 boat/4 rods released six sublegal and one oversize sturgeon. Sec 8 (Longview) – 1 boat/4 rods released eight legal, four sublegal and 12 oversize sturgeon.
Shad:
Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 99 bank anglers kept 558 shad. 4 boats/9 rods kept 77 shad and released 15 shad.
Columbia River Tributaries
Salmon/Steelhead:
Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream – 49 bank rods kept two steelhead. 1 boats/2 rods kept one Chinook.
Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br – 30 bank rods kept five Chinook, two steelhead and released one Chinook and one steelhead. 11 boats/32 rods kept 19 steelhead.
Kalama River – No report.
Lewis River – Three bank rods had no catch.
Wind River – No report.
Drano Lake – 5 boats/9 rods kept one Chinook.
Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge – No report.
