SW WA, Lower Columbia Fishing Report (6-29-26)

THE FOLLOWING FISHING REPORT ORIGINATED WITH WDFW

Mainstem Columbia River 

Lower Columbia River, Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam — 87 salmonid boats and 366 Washington bank rods were tallied on the flight count Sunday, June 28. 

Salmon/Steelhead 

Section 1 (Bonneville) — 26 bank anglers kept one sockeye, and released two Chinook and one steelhead. 4 boats/7 rods released one Chinook.  

Section 2 (Camas/Washougal) — Three bank anglers had no catch. 7 boats/14 rods kept one steelhead. 

Section 3 (I-5 Area) — 23 bank anglers kept two sockeye, and released one Chinook and one steelhead. 4 boats/8 rods kept one steelhead.  

Section 4 (Vancouver) — Five bank anglers had no catch. 1 boat/3 rods released one steelhead. 

Section 5 (Woodland) — 21 bank anglers kept two steelhead, one sockeye and released one steelhead. 2 boats/3 rods had no catch.  

Section 6 (Kalama) — 73 bank anglers kept two steelhead. 8 boats/15 rods had no catch. 

Section 7 (Cowlitz) — No bank or boat effort reported. 

Section 8 (Longview) — 60 bank anglers kept five steelhead, and released three steelhead and one sockeye. 4 boats/9 rods released one sockeye. 

Section 9 (Cathlamet) — 11 bank anglers kept three steelhead. 3 boats/6 rods had no catch.

Section 10 (Cathlamet) — No bank or boat effort reported. 

Sturgeon 

Section 2 (Camas/Washougal) — 1 boat/2 rods released one sublegal and one legal sturgeon.

Section 6 (Kalama) — 1 boat/2 rods released three legal sturgeon. 

Shad 

Section 1 (Bonneville) — 13 bank anglers kept 22 shad. 1 boat/2 rods kept 23 shad.

Section 4 (Vancouver) — 1 boat/3 rods had no catch. 

Section 6 (Kalama) — 1 boat/2 rods had no catch. 

Walleye 

No effort reported. 

ODFW MAY NO LONGER BE CREEL SAMPLING FOR WILLAMETTE CHINOOK, BUT ANGLERS ARE STILL CATCHING THEM. DENNIS SCHWARTZ AND PALS HAD A GOOD MORNING THIS PAST WEEKEND. (KNIFE PHOTO CONTEST)

Columbia River Tributaries 

Salmon/Steelhead 

Cowlitz River (I-5 Bridge downstream) — 54 bank anglers had no catch. 2 boats/3 rods had no  catch. 

Cowlitz River (I-5 Bridge upstream) — 73 bank anglers kept 14 Chinook, six jacks, two steelhead, and released 18 Chinook and one jack. 48 boats/211 rods kept one Chinook jack, 47 steelhead and released one Chinook.  

Kalama River — Nine bank anglers had no catch. 2 boats/3 rods had no catch. 

Lewis River — 31 bank anglers released one Chinook. 8 boats/12 rods kept one Chinook and two steelhead. 

Wind River — No bank or boat effort reported. 

Drano Lake — Nine bank anglers had no catch. 5 boats/9 rods had no catch.  

Klickitat River (below Fisher Hill Bridge) — No effort reported. 

Klickitat River (above Fisher Hill Bridge) — Three bank anglers had no catch. No boat effort reported.
