SW WA, Buoy 10, Lower Columbia Fishing Report (8-17-26)

THE FOLLOWING FISHING REPORT ORIGINATED WITH WDFW

Preliminary Lower Columbia River and Washington Tributary Sport Summary Aug 10-16, 2026

Mainstem Columbia River 

Salmon/Steelhead 

Lower Columbia River, Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam — 400 salmonid boats and 85 Washington bank rods were tallied on the flight count Sunday, August 16. 

Section 1 (Bonneville) — 26 bank anglers kept two Chinook. 10 boats/27 rods had no catch. 

Section 2 (Camas/Washougal) — One bank angler had no catch. 37 boats/70 rods kept one Chinook jack.  

Section 3 (I-5 Area) — No bank effort reported. 9 boats/15 rods kept three Chinook and released one steelhead. 

Section 4 (Vancouver) — 60 bank anglers kept two Chinook. 59 boats/105 rods kept 10 Chinook, one Chinook jack, released one Chinook and one Chinook jack. 

Section 5 (Woodland) — 18 bank anglers kept one Chinook. 66 boats/124 rods kept 18 Chinook, two  Chinook jacks, one coho, released three Chinook and four steelhead. 

Section 6 (Kalama) — 166 bank anglers kept nine Chinook. 17 boats/38 rods kept two Chinook, two Chinook jacks and released two Chinook. 

Section 7 (Cowlitz) — No bank effort reported. 23 boats/54 rods kept three Chinook, released two Chinook, one Chinook jack and one coho. 

Section 8 (Longview) — 100 bank anglers kept five Chinook. 68 boats/135 rods kept four Chinook and released one Chinook. 

Section 9 (Cathlamet) — 13 bank anglers had no catch. 31 boats/66 rods kept eight Chinook, two Chinook jacks and released one Chinook.

Section 10 (Cathlamet) — Three bank anglers had no catch. 10 boats/19 rods kept two Chinook, one coho and released seven Chinook.

Section 2 (Camas/Washougal) — 1 boat/4 rods released one oversize sturgeon.

Section 6 (Kalama) — 3 boats/5 rods released five sublegal and one legal sturgeon.

Columbia River Tributaries 

Salmon/Steelhead 

Cowlitz River (I-5 Bridge downstream) — 27 bank anglers had no catch. 2 boats/3 rods had no catch. 

Cowlitz River (I-5 Bridge upstream) — 47 bank anglers kept 14 steelhead and released three steelhead. 23 boats/73 rods kept 84 steelhead and released one steelhead. 

Kalama River — 14 bank anglers released one Chinook. 1 boat/4 rods released one steelhead. 

Lewis River — 53 bank anglers kept one Chinook and one steelhead. 14 boats/22 rods kept four steelhead and released two Chinook.  

Wind River — No effort reported. 

Drano Lake — Five bank anglers had no catch. 9 boats/14 rods kept one Chinook and released four steelhead.  

Klickitat River (below Fisher Hill Bridge) — No effort reported.

Columbia Catch Summaries

From Thursday, August 13 through Sunday, August 16, 2026 Oregon creel samplers contacted 468 boats (1,685 anglers) for 695 Chinook (averaged 0.42 fish/rod) and 364 Coho (averaged 0.22 fish/rod) kept; and 636 Chinook and 150 Coho released.

Boats sampled to date: 1,853 boats (6,302 anglers)
Fish sampled to date: 2,634 Chinook and 732 Coho
Estimated angler trips: 25,515 boat and 1,472 bank
