Columbia Fall King Forecast: ‘Similar’ To 2022 Return

THE FOLLOWING MATERIAL CAME FROM WDFW AND ODFW

Columbia River Fall Chinook
• 2022 Returns
o Adult fall Chinook return was predicted to be 485,500 fish.
o Preliminary adult return is about 137% of the forecast.
o The preliminary Bonneville Pool Hatchery (BPH) tule adult return appears to be
the highest return since 1964.
o BPH tule jack return appears to be similar to the 2021 return.
o Upriver Bright (URB) and Pool Upriver Bright (PUB) stocks appear to have higher
jack returns than the 2021 returns.
o Lower River Hatchery (LRH) tule jack return appears to be similar to the 2021
return.

• 2023 Outlook
o Fall Chinook returns should be similar to the 2022 returns.


Columbia River Coho
• 2022 preliminary Coho return is about 70% of the forecast (683,700).
• 2022 preliminary Coho jack return appears to be less than the 2021 return of
approximately 63,700.
