THE FOLLOWING IS A WDFW EMERGENCY RULE CHANGE NOTICE

Baker Lake to open for sockeye

Action: Open Baker Lake to fishing for and retaining sockeye salmon

SPENCER EWING, GRANDSON OF SOCKEYE ADVOCATE FRANK URABECK, SHOWS OFF A SOCKEYE HE CAUGHT DURING THE 2019 SEASON AT BAKER LAKE AS MT. BAKER HIDES ITS HEAD IN THE CLOUDS. (FISHING PHOTO CONTEST)

Effective date: July 10, 2021 until further notice

Species affected: Sockeye salmon

Location: Baker Lake(Whatcom Co): Catch record card code: 825

Rule:  Daily limit 1 sockeye only. Min. size 18”.

Anglers may fish with two poles with the purchase of a Two-Pole Endorsement.

Each angler aboard a vessel may deploy salmon angling gear until the daily salmon limit for all anglers aboard has been achieved.

Reason for action: The 2021 sockeye preseason forecast indicates sufficient returns to allow for a harvest season.
