SW WA, Lower Columbia Fishing Report (7-7-26)

THE FOLLOWING FISHING REPORT ORIGINATED WITH WDFW

Preliminary Lower Columbia River and Washington Tributary Sport Summary – June 29 – July 5, 2026

Mainstem Columbia River 

Lower Columbia River, Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam — 64 salmonid boats and 327 Washington bank rods were tallied on the flight count Saturday, July 4. 

Salmon/Steelhead 

Section 1 (Bonneville) — 17 bank anglers released three Chinook and one steelhead. No boat effort  reported. 

Section 2 (Camas/Washougal) — Six bank anglers had no catch. 2 boats/3 rods released one Chinook jack. 

Section 3 (I-5 Area) — Five bank anglers had no catch. No boat effort reported. 

Section 4 (Vancouver) — 34 bank anglers kept one sockeye. 2 boats/6 rods released one steelhead. 

Section 5 (Woodland) — 32 bank anglers kept one steelhead, two sockeye, and released one steelhead. 2 boats/3 rods kept one steelhead.  

Section 6 (Kalama) — 104 bank anglers kept one steelhead, released three Chinook and one jack. 4 boats/11 rods kept one steelhead.  

Section 7 (Cowlitz) — No bank effort reported. 1 boat/3 rods kept three steelhead. 

Section 8 (Longview) — 182 bank anglers kept 34 steelhead and released seven steelhead. 23 boats/54 rods kept 16 steelhead, one sockeye, and released nine steelhead and three sockeye. 

Section 9 (Cathlamet) — 45 bank anglers kept 11 steelhead and released one steelhead. 11 boats/20 rods kept ten steelhead, one sockeye, and released one steelhead. 

Section 10 (Cathlamet) — One bank angler released two steelhead. 1 boat/2 rods kept one steelhead.

Sturgeon 

Section 2 (Camas/Washougal) — 1 boat/3 rods released two oversize sturgeon.

Shad 

Section 1 (Bonneville) — 16 bank anglers kept 22 shad and released nine shad. 

Walleye 

No effort reported. 

BUZZ RAMSEY HAS BEEN REGULATING ON THE KLICKITAT RIVER, CATCHING ONE HATCHERY SUMMER STEELHEAD AFTER ANOTHER, INCLUDING THIS ONE AT THE START OF THE LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND. (BUZZ RAMSEY)

Columbia River Tributaries 

Salmon/Steelhead 

Cowlitz River (I-5 Bridge downstream) — 95 bank anglers kept three Chinook jack, eight steelhead, and released five Chinook jack and one oversize sturgeon. 3 boats/5 rods had no catch. 

Cowlitz River (I-5 Bridge upstream) — 39 bank anglers kept four Chinook, one jack, three steelhead, and released two Chinook and six jacks. 47 boats/220 rods kept one Chinook, 56 steelhead, and released one Chinook.  

Kalama River — No effort reported. 

Lewis River — Five bank anglers had no catch. 10 boats/13 rods kept one steelhead.

Wind River — No effort reported. 

Drano Lake — No effort reported.  

Klickitat River (below Fisher Hill Bridge) — No effort reported. 

Klickitat River (above Fisher Hill Bridge) — No effort reported.
