Portion Of Marine Area 1 Off Long Beach Peninsula To Close to Salmon Fishing

Marine Area 1 waters north of the Columbia River mouth and within 3 miles of shore along the Long Beach Peninsula will close for salmon fishing starting Thursday, August 13, after higher than expected Chinook catches, especially just off the beach. The idea is to slow salmon catches for the rest of the area, which will remain open.

Ocean Hatchery Coho Season To Close Early Off Oregon Coast South Of Cape Falcon

With the hatchery coho quota for Cape Falcon to the Oregon-California border predicted to hit 98 percent full after next Tuesday, retention will close starting August 19. Chinook will remain open, and any unused quota could be rolled over into September’s any-coho fishery from Falcon to Cape Humbug.
