Deschutes To Stay Open For Steelhead After July Passage Mark Met
Between July 1- 25, 2023, a total of 10,809 unmarked summer steelhead passed Bonneville Dam. A minimum of 9,900 was needed during the month of July to keep steelhead fishing open. If less than 9,900 had passed for the entire month of July, Deschutes River steelhead fishing would have closed Aug. 15.
All Sturgeon Fishing To Close On Columbia From PRD To The Dalles
With around two dozen sturgeon dying due to high water temperatures in the Mid-Columbia, state managers are closing all fishing for the long-lived species between The Dalles and Priest Rapids Dams starting this Saturday.
Lower Wenatchee River Opening For Sockeye
For the second summer in a row – and perhaps only the second time ever – the lower Wenatchee River will open for sockeye retention. It’s later in the run, but salmon are still going over Rock Island Dam downstream of the mouth and Tumwater Dam above the fishery, which opens August 1.
2 More Days Added For San Juans Hatchery Chinook Anglers
With Chinook still available in the quota, the San Juan Islands will reopen for hatchery kings this Friday and Saturday, July 28-29, WDFW announced this morning.
