Tri-Cities Walleye Trip Renews Early Spring Tradition

By Dave Anderson

Last year with the whole Covid lockdown we were unable to attend our annual walleye weekend with TJ Hester of Hester’s Sportfishing, so this year we were so glad to get out and walleye fish once again with him.

We tried a different area than where we usually go as there were bigger eater-sized walleye there than the ones we usually target.

Gear of choice was a 3-ounce bottom bouncer, with a Mack’s Smile Blade and beads with a double hook holding half a nightcrawler.

This has got to be one of my favorite trips each year and it sure pays to go with a pro who knows the area so that you’re not scratching your head wondering why someone else is doing better than you.

One of the biggest things that I notice that sets TJ apart is having a bow-mounted electric trolling motor.  Being able to keep your boat on track at the magical 1.3 mph is key to making sure you are fishing effectively and putting walleye in the box.

If you get a chance, give TJ a call and book your next walleye trip. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
