Preliminary Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary March 1-7, 2021
Lower Columbia mainstem from Bonneville to Astoria – 143 salmonid boats and 78 Washington bank rods were tallied during Saturday’s (3/6) effort count.

Mainstem Columbia River
Salmon/Steelhead:
Sec 1 (Bonneville) – No report.
Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – No report.
Sec 3 (I-5 area) – 1 boat/1 rod had no catch.
Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 12 bank anglers had no catch. 18 boats/32 rods had no catch.
Sec 5 (Woodland) – 59 bank anglers released two steelhead. 9 boats/18 rods had no catch.
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 11 bank anglers had no catch. 18 boats/41 rods had no catch.
Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – 2 boats/6 rods had no catch.
Sec 8 (Longview) – 62 bank anglers kept two steelhead and released one Chinook and three steelhead. 16 boats/33 rods had no catch.
Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – Three bank anglers had no catch. 3 boats/7 rods had no catch.
Sec 10 (Cathlamet) – Three bank anglers had no catch. 7 boats/18 rods had no catch.
Bonneville Pool – Three bank anglers had no catch.
Sturgeon:
Sec 5 (Woodland) – 1 boat/5 rods had no catch.
Bonneville Pool – Seven bank anglers released two sublegal sturgeon. 1 boat/2 rods released two legal and two sublegal sturgeon.
The Dalles Pool – Three bank anglers had no catch.
John Day Pool – 11 bank anglers kept one legal sturgeon. 16 boats/40 rods released three sublegal sturgeon.
Walleye:
Bonneville Pool – 6 boats/12 rods kept four walleye and released one walleye.
The Dalles Pool – Five bank anglers kept three walleye and released one walleye. 6 boats/12 rods kept six walleye.
John Day Pool – Two bank anglers had no catch. 41 boats/90 rods kept 57 walleye and released 18 walleye and 16 bass.
Columbia River Tributaries
Salmon/Steelhead:
Cowlitz River – I-5 Br downstream – 33 bank rods kept one steelhead. 1 boat/4 rods had no catch.
Above the I-5 Br – 56 bank rods kept five steelhead and released one steelhead. 33 boats/111 rods kept 52 steelhead.
Lewis River – Five bank anglers had no catch.
