SW WA, Lower Columbia Fishing Report (9-15-21)
Editor’s note: The initial version of this fishing report from WDFW’s Bryant Spellman included old catch information (August 30-September 6) for the Lower Columbia’s sections 5-10, Woodland/St. Helens to Cathlamet/Puget Island/Wauna. It has since been deleted.

Preliminary Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary September 7-12, 2021
Mainstem Columbia River
Salmon/Steelhead:
Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 27 bank anglers kept two Chinook, one Chinook jack and released one Chinook. 38 boats/89 rods kept 52 Chinook, 12 Chinook jacks, six coho and released two Chinook jacks.
Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 39 boats/101 rods kept 43 Chinook, six Chinook jacks, three coho and released two coho.
Sec 3 (I-5 area) – 15 bank anglers had no catch. 17 boats/32 rods kept five Chinook, two Chinook jacks, one coho and released two coho.
Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 33 bank anglers kept two Chinook, one coho and released two Chinook and one coho. 174 boats/426 rods kept 178 Chinook, 17 Chinook jacks, 34 coho and released three Chinook, seven Chinook jacks and 37 coho.
Sturgeon:
Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 24 bank anglers had no catch. 7 boats/14 rods had no catch.
Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 5 boats/10 rods had no catch.
Sec 3 (I-5 area) – 20 boats/49 rods released 12 sublegal, six oversize and kept three legal sturgeon.
Sec 4 (Vancouver) – Eight bank anglers had no catch. 8 boats/17 rods released nine sublegal, seven oversize and kept five legal sturgeon.
Sec 5 (Woodland) – 19 boats/50 rods released 11 sublegal, five oversize and kept four legal sturgeon.
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 26 bank anglers released one sublegal sturgeon. 46 boats/136 rods released 130 sublegal, 11 oversize and kept 26 legal sturgeon.
Sec 8 (Longview) – 46 boats/113 rods released 18 sublegal, five oversize and kept six legal sturgeon.
Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 9 boats/23 rods released three sublegal and one oversize sturgeon.
Columbia River Tributaries
Salmon/Steelhead:
Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream – 4 boats/16 rods kept one coho jack and released 17 Chinook.
Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br – No report.
Kalama River – No report.
Lewis River – 33 bank rods kept one Chinook jack, 1 coho, five coho jacks and released two Chinook, two coho, one coho jack and one steelhead. 18 boats/33 rods kept one Chinook jack, 15 coho, 29 coho jacks and released nine coho and six coho jacks.
Wind River – 2 boats/3 rods released two Chinook.
Drano Lake – Two bank rods had no catch. 74 boats/225 rods kept 98 Chinook, 12 Chinook jacks, nine coho, two coho jacks and released 35 Chinook, two coho and eight steelhead.
Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge – 25 bank rods kept three Chinook.
Klickitat River above #5 Fishway – Eight bank rods had no catch.
Sturgeon: Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream – 11 bank rods released one sublegal, two oversize and kept one legal sturgeon. 28 boats/85 rods released 26 sublegal, 12 oversize and kept seven legal sturgeon.
