Preliminary Lower Columbia River and Washington Tributary Sport Summary – September 1-7, 2025
Mainstem Columbia River
Lower Columbia River, Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam — 983 salmonid boats and 219 Washington bank rods were tallied on the flight count Saturday, September 6.

Section 1 (Bonneville) — 66 bank anglers kept seven Chinook and four Chinook jacks. 40 boats/104 rods kept 37 Chinook and released six Chinook and one Chinook jack.
Section 2 (Camas/Washougal) — 11 bank anglers had no catch. 163 boats/360 rods kept 58 Chinook, six Chinook jacks, five coho and released one Chinook, two Chinook jacks, one coho and three coho jacks.
Section 3 (I-5 Area) — Nine bank anglers kept three Chinook. 9 boats/18 rods kept one Chinook.
Section 4 (Vancouver) — 109 bank anglers kept four Chinook. 97 boats/195 rods kept 34 Chinook, three Chinook jacks, one coho and released five Chinook and one Chinook jack.
Section 5 (Woodland) — 53 bank anglers kept seven Chinook and released one Chinook. 68 boats/171 rods kept 50 Chinook, two Chinook jacks, one coho jack and released three coho.
Section 6 (Kalama) — 189 bank anglers kept 41 Chinook and two Chinook jacks. 48 boats/124 rods kept 30 Chinook, three Chinook jacks and released five Chinook.
Section 7 (Cowlitz) — 44 boats/121 rods kept 54 Chinook, seven Chinook jacks and released one Chinook, one Chinook jack and two coho.
Section 8 (Longview) — 68 bank anglers kept 18 Chinook and one coho. 59 boats/117 rods kept 33 Chinook and one Chinook jack.
Section 9 (Cathlamet) — 26 boats/54 rods kept 25 Chinook, one Chinook jack, four coho and released three Chinook and one Chinook jack.
Section 10 (Cathlamet) — Four bank anglers had no catch. 10 boats/27 rods kept 21 Chinook, seven coho and released two coho.

Salmon/Steelhead
Cowlitz River (I-5 Bridge downstream) — 12 bank anglers kept one steelhead and released one Chinook and two Chinook jacks. 1 boat/4 rods released 15 Chinook jacks and one coho.
Cowlitz River (I-5 Bridge upstream) — 12 bank anglers kept five steelhead.
Kalama River — No effort reported.
Lewis River — 2 boats/2 rods had no catch.
Wind River — 10 boats/22 rods kept three Chinook, one Chinook jack and released 10 Chinook.
Drano Lake — 24 bank anglers kept five Chinook and released two steelhead. 44 boats/130 rods kept 81 Chinook, 17 Chinook jacks and released 50 Chinook.
Klickitat River (below Fisher Hill Bridge) — Eight bank anglers had no catch.

SALMON, STEELHEAD AND SHAD
On Saturday’s (9/6) flight, there were 983 boats and 45 Oregon bank anglers from Bonneville down to Lord Island.
Gorge:
Weekly checking showed 64 Chinook and four jack Chinook kept, and nine Chinook released for 54 boats (149 anglers); and nine Chinook and one jack Chinook kept for 50 bank anglers.
Troutdale:
Weekly checking showed 81 Chinook and six jack Chinook kept, and five Chinook, two jack Chinook, and one coho jack released for 272 boats (569 anglers).
Portland to Warrior Rock:
Weekly checking showed 49 Chinook, four jack Chinook, and one coho kept, and four Chinook, two coho, and one jack coho released for 143 boats (340 anglers); and no catch for 14 bank anglers.
Warrior Rock to Rainier:
Weekly checking showed 442 Chinook, 28 jack Chinook, two coho, and one jack coho kept, and 20 Chinook, four jack Chinook, one coho, and one steelhead released for 402 boats (1050 anglers); and no catch for 16 bank anglers.
Rainier to Lower Puget Island:
Weekly checking showed 20 Chinook, three jack Chinook, and two coho kept for 22 boats (49 anglers).
Lower Puget Island to Tongue Point/Rocky Point:
Weekly checking showed 268 Chinook, eight jack Chinook, 101 coho, and one jack coho kept, and 44 Chinook, 17 jack Chinook, 41 coho, and nine jack coho released for 126 boats (445 anglers).
Buoy 10:
Weekly checking showed 622 Chinook, 632 coho, and one steelhead kept, and 214 Chinook, 462 coho, and one steelhead released for 598 boats (1,870 anglers).
Bonneville Pool (Bonneville Dam upstream to The Dalles Dam):
Weekly checking showed 72 Chinook and 10 jack Chinook kept, and 21 Chinook, three jack Chinook, and two steelhead released for 92 boats (267 anglers); and no catch for four bank anglers.
The Dalles Pool (The Dalles Dam upstream to John Day Dam):
Weekly checking showed 126 Chinook and 10 jack Chinook kept, and four Chinook and one jack Chinook released for 115 boats (308 anglers).
John Day Pool (Columbia River above John Day Dam and John Day Arm):
Weekly checking showed one Chinook kept for 11 boats (22 anglers).
Sturgeon
Lower Columbia River (below Bonneville Dam):
Closed to retention. Weekly checking showed one sub-legal sized sturgeon and three legal sized sturgeon released for one bank angler.
Bonneville Pool:
Closed to retention. Weekly checking showed no catch for one bank angler.
The Dalles Pool:
Closed to retention. No report.
John Day Pool:
Closed for retention. Weekly checking showed 14 sub-legal sized sturgeon, 11 legal sized sturgeon, and seven over-legal sized sturgeon released for 11 boats (27 anglers).

Weekly checking showed eight walleye kept and three walleye released for five boats (11 anglers); and Five walleye kept for four bank anglers.
