SW WA, Lower Columbia Fishing Report (7-11-22)

Preliminary Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary July 4-10, 2022

Mainstem Columbia River 

Salmon/Steelhead

Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 47 bank anglers kept two Chinook and one steelhead.  

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 11 boats/18 rods had no catch.

Sec 3 (I-5 area) – 20 bank anglers kept one sockeye and released two steelhead. 1 boat/1 rod released  one Chinook.  

Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 218 bank anglers kept 19 Chinook, one jack, seven steelhead, 10 sockeye and  released nine Chinook and two steelhead. 50 boats/101 rods kept 12 Chinook, one steelhead, six  sockeye and released eight Chinook and three steelhead. 

Sec 5 (Woodland) – 100 bank anglers kept three Chinook, one jack, five steelhead, eight sockeye and  released two steelhead and one sockeye. 30 boats/61 rods kept eight Chinook and released three Chinook and one steelhead. 

Sec 6 (Kalama) – 271 bank anglers kept 24 Chinook, 23 steelhead, nine sockeye and released 18 Chinook, two jacks and seven steelhead. 41 boats/92 rods kept four Chinook, one jack, three steelhead and released two Chinook, two jacks and three steelhead. 

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – 15 boats/45 rods kept four Chinook, five steelhead, three sockeye and released two Chinook and seven steelhead. 

Sec 8 (Longview) – 263 bank anglers kept four Chinook, 32 steelhead, 13 sockeye and released 18 steelhead and two sockeye. 92 boats/203 rods kept 14 Chinook, one jack, 30 steelhead, four sockeye and released four Chinook and four steelhead. 

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 56 bank anglers kept two Chinook, eight steelhead, one sockeye and released three steelhead. 11 boats/38 rods kept one Chinook, 22 steelhead and released five Chinook and two steelhead.  

Sec 10 (Cathlamet) – Four bank anglers kept two steelhead. 1 boat/2 rods had no catch. 

Sturgeon: 

Sec 6 (Kalama) – 2 boats/7 rods released one sublegal and two oversize sturgeon

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – 2 boats/5 rods released one legal, six sublegal and one oversize sturgeon. 

Shad

Sec 1 (Bonneville) – Eight bank anglers kept 24 shad.  

Sec 6 (Kalama) – 1 boat/1 rod had no catch. 

Walleye: 

Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 1 boat/4 rods released three walleye. 

Columbia River Tributaries 

Salmon/Steelhead

Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream – 61 bank rods kept one Chinook and seven steelhead. 1 boat/1 rod  had no catch. 

Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br – 20 bank rods kept one Chinook and seven steelhead. 16 boats/51 rods kept 63 steelhead. 

Kalama River – No report. 

Lewis River – 1 boat/2 rods had no catch. 

Drano Lake – No report. 

Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge – No report. 

Klickitat River above #5 Fishway – No report.
