SW WA, Lower Columbia Fishing Report (6-23-22)

Preliminary Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary June 13-19, 2022

THE FOLLOWING FISHING REPORT WAS FORWARDED BY LAUREN HOLMES, WDFW

Salmon/Steelhead

Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 107 bank anglers kept 11 Chinook, and released 9 Chinook and one steelhead. 2  boats/3 rods had no catch. 

THE SUN RISES OVER EAST COLUMBIA GORGE FISHERMEN. (TROY BRODERS)

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 14 boats/27 rods kept two Chinook, and one jack. 

Sec 3 (I-5 area) – Three bank anglers had no catch. 4 boats/9 rods had no catch. 

Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 73 bank anglers kept four Chinook, two jacks and released one Chinook. 36 boats/80 rods kept 10 Chinook, two jacks and released four Chinook, two jacks and one sockeye. 

Sec 5 (Woodland) – 66 bank anglers kept three Chinook and released two sockeye. 20 boats/42 rods  kept 10 Chinook and one jack and released one Chinook and one sockeye. 

Sec 6 (Kalama) – 58 bank anglers kept three Chinook. 29 boats/102 rods kept 13 Chinook, one jack, one  steelhead and released six Chinook and seven sockeye. 

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – 14 boats/51 rods kept six Chinook, four jacks and released three Chinook, one  steelhead and seven sockeye. 

Sec 8 (Longview) – 306 bank anglers kept 29 Chinook, seven jack, 30 steelhead and released 10 Chinook, three jack, five steelhead and 46 sockeye. 98 boats/236 rods kept 58 Chinook, 11 jacks, five  steelhead and released 23 Chinook, three jacks, three steelhead and 11 sockeye. 

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 14 bank anglers had no catch. 14 boats/45 rods kept 25 Chinook, one jack and 24 steelhead and released seven Chinook, four steelhead and 22 sockeye. 

Sec 10 (Cathlamet) – Four bank anglers had no catch. 8 boats/14 rods kept one Chinook and one  steelhead and released one sockeye. 

Sturgeon: 

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 1 boat/2 rods released two oversize sturgeon. 

Sec 6 (Kalama) – 1 boat/3 rods released three legal and four oversize sturgeon. 

Shad

Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 87 bank anglers kept 430 shad and released 28 shad. 2 boats/6 rods kept 27 shad. Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 2 boats/6 rods kept two shad. 

Sec 3 (I-5 area) – 1 boat/2 rods kept seven shad. 

Sec 4 (Vancouver) – No report.

Sec 5 (Woodland) – No report. 

Sec 6 (Kalama) – No report. 

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – No report. 

Sec 8 (Longview) – No report. 

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – No report. 

Sec 10 (Chinook/Deep River/Cathlamet) – No report.  

Columbia River Tributaries 

Salmon/Steelhead

Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream – 19 bank rods kept four steelhead and released three steelhead. 

Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br – 12 bank rods kept one Chinook, two jack and one steelhead. 

Kalama River – Four bank rods had no catch. 

Lewis River – 16 bank rods kept two steelhead. 1 boat/1 rod had no catch.

Wind River – No report. 

Drano Lake – No report. 

Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge – Four bank rods kept one jack. 

Klickitat River above #5 Fishway – No report.
