SW WA, Lower Columbia Fishing Report (6-20-23)

Preliminary Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary June 12-18, 2023

Fishery Reports: 

Lower Columbia River, Megler-Astoria Bridge upstream to Bonneville Dam – 539 salmonid boats and  392 Washington bank rods were tallied during Saturday’s (6/17) flight count. 

Mainstem Columbia River 

Salmon/Steelhead

Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 189 bank anglers kept 14 Chinook, one jack, one steelhead and released one Chinook. 2 boats/5 rods had no catch.

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 7 boats/19 rods kept three Chinook. 

Sec 3 (I-5 area) – 15 bank anglers kept three sockeye and released one steelhead. 2 boats/4 rods had no  catch.  

Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 59 bank anglers kept three Chinook, one jack, four steelhead and five sockeye. 18 boats/36 rods kept one Chinook, one sockeye and released two Chinook. 

Sec 5 (Woodland) – 30 bank anglers kept one sockeye. 6 boats/11 rods kept one steelhead and released two Chinook. 

Sec 6 (Kalama) – 118 bank anglers kept six Chinook, one jack, one steelhead and eight sockeye. 39 boats/113 rods kept 15 Chinook, one jack, one steelhead, six sockeye and released two Chinook, one  jack and one steelhead. 

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – 6 boats/19 rods kept five Chinook. 

Sec 8 (Longview) – 11 bank anglers had no catch. 16 boats/45 rods kept three Chinook and one  steelhead. 

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – No report.  

Sec 10 (Cathlamet) – Two bank anglers had no catch. 2 boats/4 rods kept one Chinook.

Sturgeon: 

Sec 6 (Kalama) – 1 boat/4 rods released two legal, six sublegal and two oversize sturgeon. 

Shad

Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 93 bank anglers kept 413 shad and released 13 shad. 3 boats/13 rods kept 40 shad. 

Columbia River Tributaries 

Salmon/Steelhead

Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream – 88 bank rods kept one Chinook, one jack and 11 steelhead. 2 boats/4 rods had no catch. 

Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br – 14 bank rods kept one Chinook and released one steelhead. 9 boats/33 rods kept 14 steelhead. 

Kalama River – 33 bank rods kept one jack. 2 boats/4 rods kept three Chinook. Lewis River – 15 bank rods had no catch. 4 boats/10 rods kept one steelhead. 

Wind River – No report. 

Drano Lake – No report. 

Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge – No report.
