Preliminary Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary June 6-12, 2022
Lower Columbia mainstem Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam – 129 salmonid boats and 232 Washington bank rods were tallied during Sunday’s (6/12) flight count.
Mainstem Columbia River
Salmon/Steelhead:
Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 210 bank anglers kept 34 Chinook, five jacks and released 36 Chinook and three jacks. 3 boats/5 rods kept two Chinook.
Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 21 boats/37 rods kept two Chinook, one jack and released four Chinook. Sec 3 (I-5 area) – No report.
Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 77 bank anglers kept six Chinook, two jacks. 41 boats/76 rods kept six Chinook, two jacks and released eight Chinook and one jack.
Sec 5 (Woodland) – 115 bank anglers kept six Chinook, one jack and released one Chinook, one steelhead and six sockeye. 24 boats/49 rods kept nine Chinook and released one Chinook and two jacks.
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 115 bank anglers kept 10 Chinook, one jack, one steelhead and released one Chinook. 38 boats/87 rods kept eight Chinook and released four Chinook and one steelhead.
Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – 13 boats/44 rods kept 11 Chinook, two jacks and released two Chinook.
Sec 8 (Longview) – 203 bank anglers kept nine Chinook, one jack, four steelhead and released four Chinook, one jack, six steelhead and 13 sockeye. 127 boats/263 rods kept 55 Chinook, eight jacks, 22 steelhead and released 19 Chinook, five steelhead and one sockeye.
Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 21 bank anglers kept three steelhead. 8 boats/18 rods kept nine Chinook and 12 steelhead.
Sec 10 (Cathlamet) – Four bank anglers kept one steelhead. 6 boats/9 rods had no catch.
Sturgeon:
Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – 1 boat/5 rods released one legal and two oversize sturgeon.
Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 19 boats/46 rods kept 13 legal and released 13 sublegal and 13 oversize sturgeon.
Sec 10 (Chinook/Deep River/Cathlamet) – 38 bank anglers released one oversize sturgeon. 105 boats/321 rods kept 43 legal and released 50 sublegal and 76 oversize sturgeon.
Shad:
Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 89 bank anglers kept 486 shad and released 100 shad.
Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – No report.
Sec 3 (I-5 area) – 1 boat/1 rod kept 18 shad.
Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 3 boats/7 rods kept 46 shad and released seven shad.
Sec 5 (Woodland) – 5 boats/11 rods kept 105 shad and released 35 shad.
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 5 boats/15 rods kept 213 shad and released 18 shad.
Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – No report.
Sec 8 (Longview) – 4 boats/11 rods kept 86 shad.

Salmon/Steelhead:
Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream – Six bank rods had no catch. 1 boat/4 rods had no catch.
Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br – 30 bank rods kept one Chinook, one jack and three steelhead. 2 boats/4 rods kept two steelhead.
Kalama River – 15 bank rods kept two Chinook and released two jacks and one steelhead. 7 boats/14 rods kept two steelhead.
Lewis River – Three bank rods had no catch. 1 boat/1 rod had no catch.
Wind River – Three bank rods had no catch. 5 boats/9 rods had no catch.
Drano Lake – 6 boats/10 rods had no catch.
Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge – Four bank rods had no catch.
Klickitat River above #5 Fishway – No report.
