Preliminary Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary May 23-29, 2022
Mainstem Columbia River
Salmon/Steelhead:
Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 214 bank anglers kept 47 Chinook, 20 jacks and released 35 Chinook and one jack. 1 boat/1 rod had no catch.
Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – 11 boats/21 rods kept two Chinook, one jack and released one Chinook.
Sec 3 (I-5 area) – Four bank anglers released one Chinook and one jack. 8 boats/17 rods released one Chinook and one jack.
Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 42 bank anglers kept two Chinook. 53 boats/91 rods kept eight Chinook, three jacks and released four Chinook.
Sec 5 (Woodland) – 24 bank anglers kept one steelhead. 10 boats/24 rods had no catch.
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 59 bank anglers kept two Chinook, one steelhead and released two Chinook. 35 boats/81 rods kept eight Chinook, one jack and released four Chinook.
Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – 10 boats/27 rods kept three Chinook and released one Chinook.
Sec 8 (Longview) – 196 bank anglers kept four Chinook, 15 steelhead and released three Chinook, two sockeye and two steelhead. 95 boats/223 rods kept 33 Chinook, one jack, 14 steelhead and released 10 Chinook, one jack and two steelhead.
Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 29 bank anglers kept two steelhead. 20 boats/44 rods kept four Chinook, two jacks, 11 steelhead and released two Chinook.
Sec 10 (Cathlamet) – Six bank anglers kept two steelhead and released two jacks. 6 boats/11 rods kept two Chinook.
Sturgeon:
Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 1 boat/4 rods released 12 legal, three sublegal and nine oversize sturgeon.
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 1 boat/3 rods released two sublegal sturgeon.
Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 21 boats/57 rods kept 14 legal and released 11 sublegal and 21 oversize sturgeon.
Sec 10 (Chinook/Deep River/Cathlamet) – 20 bank anglers had no catch. 75 boats/217 rods kept 13 legal and released 15 sublegal and 32 oversize sturgeon.
Shad:
Sec 1 (Bonneville) – One bank angler kept two shad.
Sec 5 (Woodland) – 3 boats/4 rods kept 20 shad.
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 1 boat/3 rods had no catch.
Sec 8 (Longview) – 1 boat/ 1 rod had no catch.
Columbia River Tributaries
Salmon/Steelhead:
Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream – Six bank rods had no catch.
Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br – 13 bank rods released three Chinook and seven jacks. 2 boats/8 rods kept six steelhead and released one steelhead.
Kalama River – 38 bank rods kept seven Chinook and released two jacks. 11 boats/22 rods kept nine Chinook and released one steelhead.
Lewis River – 25 bank rods kept two Chinook. 1 boat/3 rods had no catch.
Wind River – 33 boats/77 rods kept four Chinook and released two Chinook.
Drano Lake – 24 boats/78 rods kept 10 Chinook, three jacks and released one Chinook.
Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge – No report.
Klickitat River above #5 Fishway – No report.
