SW WA, Lower Columbia Fishing Report (5-18-21)
THE FOLLOWING FISHING REPORT WAS FORWARDED BY BRYANT SPELLMAN, WDFW
Preliminary Washington Columbia River mainstem and tributary sport sampling summary May 10-16, 2021
Salmon/Steelhead:
Sec 5 (Woodland) – 13 bank anglers had no catch. 2 boats/3 rods had no catch.
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 17 bank anglers had no catch. 3 boats/6 rods had no catch.
Sec 8 (Longview) – 54 bank anglers kept two steelhead. 6 boats/15 rods kept one jack and two steelhead.
Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 13 bank anglers had no catch. 2 boats/12 rods had no catch.
Sec 10 (Cathlamet) – 2 boats/4 rods had no catch.
Sturgeon:
Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 40 bank anglers kept four legal and released nine sublegal and three oversize sturgeon.
Sec 10 (Cathlamet/ Deep R./ Chinook) – 38 bank anglers released one oversize sturgeon. 279 boats/825 rods kept 20 legal and released 47 sublegal and 29 oversize sturgeon.
Shad:
Sec 6 (Kalama) – 2 boats/5 rods released two shad..
Sec 8 (Longview) – 1 boat/2 rods had no catch.
Columbia River Tributaries
Salmon/Steelhead:
Cowlitz River – I-5 Br downstream – 128 bank rods kept one steelhead and released five Chinook and four steelhead. 5 boats/19 rods released one steelhead.
Above the I-5 Br – Five bank rods released one steelhead. 6 boats/13 rods released one Chinook.
Kalama River – 24 bank rods kept one Chinook, two jacks and released one steelhead. 11 boats/25 rods kept three Chinook and one jack.
Lewis River – 1 boat/2 rods released two steelhead.
Drano Lake – 14 bank rods had no catch. 205 boats/623 rods kept 280 Chinook, 12 jacks and released 16 Chinook and two jacks.
Klickitat River – 15 bank rods kept three Chinook.
