THE FOLLOWING FISHING REPORTS ORIGINATED WITH WDFW AND ODFW

Preliminary Lower Columbia River and Washington Tributary Sport Summary – March 31 through April 6, 2025

Lower Columbia River, Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam – 637 salmonid boats and 207 Washington bank rods were tallied on the flight count Saturday 4/5.

Mainstem Columbia River 

Salmon/Steelhead 

Sec 1 (Bonneville) – 257 bank anglers kept ten Chinook, one jack Chinook and released four Chinook. 1  boat/1 rod had no catch. 

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) – No bank effort reported. 24 boats/54 rods had no catch.

Sec 3 (I-5 area) – No bank effort reported. 18 boats/40 rods had no catch. 

Sec 4 (Vancouver) – 32 bank anglers kept one Chinook. 69 boats/145 rods had no catch.

Sec 5 (Woodland) – 19 bank anglers kept one steelhead. 32 boats/80 rods kept one Chinook.

Sec 6 (Kalama) – Nine bank anglers had no catch. 22 boats/55 rods had no catch.

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) – No bank effort reported. 1 boat/2 rods had no catch. 

Sec 8 (Longview) – 57 bank anglers kept one steelhead, released one Chinook and one steelhead. 92 boats/195 rods kept four Chinook, one jack Chinook, and released one Chinook. 

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) – 35 bank anglers kept two Chinook. 17 boats/41 rods kept three Chinook.

Sec 10 (Cathlamet) – No bank effort reported. 140 boats/311 rods kept 13 Chinook. 

Columbia River Tributaries 

Salmon/Steelhead 

Cowlitz River I-5 Br downstream – 46 bank rods kept one steelhead and released one steelhead. 3 boats/5 rods had no catch.  

Cowlitz River Above the I-5 Br – 37 bank rods kept three steelhead and released one steelhead. 20 boats/69 rods kept one Chinook, 11 steelhead and released two steelhead. 

Kalama River – No effort reported. 

Lewis River – One bank rod had no catch. 3 boats/4 rods had no catch.

Salmon, steelhead and shad ‌

On Saturday’s (4/5) flight count, there were 631 boats and 230 Oregon bank anglers from Bonneville Dam down to Tongue Point.

Gorge:

Weekly checking showed no catch for six boats (13 anglers); and one chinook kept for 13 bank anglers.

Troutdale:

Weekly checking showed one Chinook kept for 101 boats (197 anglers).

Portland to Warrior Rock:

Weekly checking showed three Chinook kept, and one Chinook released for 143 boats (367 anglers); and no catch for 55 bank anglers.

Warrior Rock to Rainier:

Weekly checking showed two Chinook kept, and one Chinook released for 35 boats (89 anglers); and one jack Chinook and two steelhead kept for 76 bank anglers.

Rainier to Lower Puget Island:

Weekly checking showed 40 Chinook, one jack Chinook, and one steelhead kept, and three Chinook released for 110 boats (281 anglers); and eight Chinook and nine steelhead kept, and two jack Chinook and two steelhead released for 249 bank anglers.

Lower Puget Island to Tongue Point/Rocky Point

Weekly checking showed 10 Chinook, one jack Chinook, and one steelhead kept, and two steelhead released for 95 boats (243 anglers).

Bonneville Pool (Bonneville Dam upstream to The Dalles Dam):

No report.

The Dalles Pool (The Dalles Dam upstream to John Day Dam):

No report.

John Day Pool (Columbia River above John Day Dam and John Day Arm):
