Hanford Reach Fishing Report (9-19-23)

THE FOLLOWING FISHING REPORT WAS FORWARDED BY TODD MILLER, WDFW

The Hanford Reach fall salmon sport fishery is starting to look good. Our first run update today has shown significant improvement from our preseason run estimate, specifically our natural origin estimate. We plan to update again next week to ensure the numbers are still tracking. If they are, we may decide to increase the limit to a two adult Chinook and still have a complete season.

JAKE EDDINGS HOLDS A VERY NICE FALL CHINOOK CAUGHT JUST ABOVE THE HANFORD REACH, CAUGHT WHILE FISHING WITH CENTRAL WASHINGTON SHARPIE DON TALBOT. HE WAS USING A SUPER BAIT IN CHRISTINE. (DON TALBOT)

From September 11 through September 17, WDFW staff interviewed anglers from 456 boats (1,295 anglers) with 327 adult Chinook. Based on sampling, an estimated 1,042 adult Chinook were harvested from 3,944 angler trips (1,483 boats) in the fifth week of the fishery. In addition,  6 steelhead were caught and released.
