2026 West Coast Ocean Salmon Fishing Options Out For Comment

With “largely encouraging” Chinook and coho forecasts, the West Coast ocean salmon fishing council has adopted options for 2026 seasons off Washington, Oregon and the rest of the coast, and here’s what the alternatives look like for recreational and other fishermen as public comment also opens.

Sandy To Open For Wednesday Afternoon, Evening Smelt Dip

ODFW announced this afternoon that the Sandy River from mouth upstream to the Stark Street Bridge will open March 11 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. for smelt dipping. First time in 50 years of smelt presence in river four years in a row; have been in for several days now, some postspawn dead ones seen already.
