OR Elk Poacher Gets Unique Hunting Season Sentence, Fined $75K

In what’s billed as the first application of the Oregon legislature’s tougher anti-poaching sentencing guidelines, a 28-year-old Pendleton man who pled guilty to nearly two dozen wildlife charges will spend 14 days in jail in each of the next three elk seasons, and was fined $75,000 for illegally taking eight elk and eight deer, including several trophy animals.
