2023 Washington Halibut Season Set

WDFW announced season dates for the 2023 halibut fishery on the Pacific, Strait of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound, including an April opener for Sekiu and Marine Area 5.

Washington’s offshore bottomfish season kicks off as usual the second Saturday in March, but come May, June and July, copper rockfish, quillback and vermilion rockfish retention will be prohibited “to reduce catch to stay within state specific federal harvest limits,” per WDFW.
