Sturgeon Fishing Closed On Part Of Snake Reservoir After Deaths
An “unprecedented” mortality event involving around 20 sturgeon at Idaho’s CJ Strike Reservoir, on the Snake, has led state managers to close the C&R fishery where water temps and dissolved oxygen levels have hit levels lethal to the long-lived species.
Kings, Steelhead Also Impacted By Tire Compound, But Not Sockeye
Researchers have found that Chinook and steelhead are also affected by a toxic tire compound washed into streams by rains, though not to the extreme degree of coho, but sockeye appear to be unaffected.
