Last week saw the opener of Ling cod, Halibut, and then Spot Prawns, all in rapid fire succession. We got our keeper Ling on May 1st. after work in about half an hour. Then on to the Halibut opener on Thursday, which took a bit more work, but we got ‘em out on the banks. Next was shrimpin’ in some nasty tides on Saturday that I’m sure made pot and line manufactures happy. We ended up with a limit, but had a hard time getting the traps to stick.
Then what better way to celebrate Cinco De Mayo than Halibut tacos and prawns on Saturday night.
1. Kevin with a legal linger. We were pitchin’ plastics on lead heads to get these uglies to come off structure. Nothing beats fresh Ling in my opinion.
2. Bob Wilson and Chuck Payne with a couple 20-25 lbers. We anchored up and used black label herring on circle hook rigs to catch us some chickens.
