(OREGON STATE POLICE PRESS RELEASE)
Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s help to identify the person(s) responsible for unlawfully killing 5 hawks found last Thursday south of Grass Valley in Sherman County. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered by the Audubon Society of Portland for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
According to Senior Trooper Swede Pearson from the OSP The Dalles Area Command office, five dead hawks were found February 9, 2012 along Stradley Road and Ball Lane south of Grass Valley. The hawks appear to have been shot from the roadway as they sat on top of power poles bordering the road.
