Voice mail received at Northwest Sportsman World Domination Headquarters this morning:
“Here’s your on-the-water report from Buoy 10: We’ve got five rods in the boat. We started at 6 a.m. and we’ve got five kings and two hatchery coho for Team Northwest Sportsman,” reports our Brian Lull, down fishing at the Northwest Sportfishing Industry Association’s Buoy 10 Salmon Challenge today.
“We’re just looking for the three more coho we need to win the derby.”
But then, so close to potential victory and massive newfound fame for the little magazine that could (just finishing up our fourth year!!), Lull taunted the competition (on the water and the newsstand rack) and possibly nixed our shot at greatness.
(No, he’s not a Coug, so if it comes to pass that Lull has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory we may see the birth of a new term before the end of the day — He Huskied it.)
