41st Pacific Northwest Sportsmen’s Show Set For Feb. 10-14 In Portland


Portland, Ore. — This February 10-14, the Pacific Northwest Sportsmen’s Show and Sport Fishing Boat Show, presented by Federal Premium Ammunition and Bushnell, returns to the Portland Expo Center in its 41st year! This is more than an event. It’s more than a pastime. It’s a true Northwest tradition where there’s always something new to see, to learn, and to pass on. The World’s Only Indoor Steelhead River: Discover the latest tools and techniques as expert anglers don their waders for hourly on-the-water presentations in the world’s only indoor Steelhead River, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods. The 50-foot water feature is stocked with steelhead and simulates a natural river, with pools, rocks, stumps, riverbank and obstacles that force the two-foot-deep, clear current to flow in a realistic manner.

New Outdoor Survival Expert: New for 2016, Brett Stoffel will bring exciting seminars and tips for outdoor survival training to the show. Presented by your local Toyota dealers, Stoffel’s free outdoor survival training seminars are a must-see for all ages, providing show attendees with invaluable knowledge and survival solutions that are affordable and effective. These seminars cover a variety of topics, from lost person behavior to survival myths and misconceptions.

Legendary Angler Roland Martin Comes to the Show: For the past two decades, legendary angler Roland Martin has given viewers of his NBC Sports show, “Fishing With Roland Martin,” the scoop on how to outsmart a variety of game-fish. And this year, he’s coming to the Sportsmen’s Show! Fishing enthusiasts won’t want to miss his seminars, “Pitching & Flipping for Bass” and “How to Pattern Fish for Bass,” which take place all five days in the Casting Pool and Blue Theater areas of the show.

Herb Good is hanging up his apron – don’t miss the last chance to watch this camp cooking favorite at the show. Tiffany Haugen, Dutch oven guru “Cee Dub” Welch, and Roger Neufeldt, aka the Smokehouse Sausage Guy, will also present throughout the five-day show, demonstrating their craft and sharing samples! Head & Horns Competition: The 2016 Pacific Northwest Sportsmen’s Show, sponsored by Federal Premium Ammunition and Bushnell, invites the public to bring head and horns or antlers to the 2016 show to vie for records, bragging rights and valuable prizes provided by Danner, Fort Knox, Simmons, Ruger, Gerber, and Primos at the highly anticipated Head & Horns Competition. Bring your trophy, past or present, for official measurement! Entrants pay a $25 deposit that’s refunded to those whose entries don’t make the official record book.

Northwest Tour of Big Game Animals: Appearing at the show’s Head & Horns area, don’t miss Portland’s debut of this new display featuring the largest non-typical Rocky Mountain elk ever recorded in Oregon. This enormous, 423 0/8 B.C. elk was harvested by Delwyn Hendrickson in Umatilla County. The incredible trophy eclipsed the old record established in 1930 of the 411 0/8 B.C. bull commonly known as “Taft.”

Free Kids’ Trout Fishing Pond: The Kids’ Trout Fishing Pond is one of the show’s most popular attractions, and it’s completely FREE, courtesy of Baxter Auto Parts. Unplug for the day and join us at the Portland Expo Center, where kids ages 12 and under can try a hand at catching up to two live trout to keep or release. Over the years, thousands of children have caught their first fish at the show with the support of Multnomah Anglers and Hunters Club, a nonprofit organization that’s volunteered at this family-friendly feature for more than 40 years. So bring your camera, and don’t miss out on a truly memorable experience.

Fresh Water Demo Tank: The 30-foot-long, 3,000-gallon tank, sponsored by Bi-Mart, will feature seasoned experts sharing their knowledge of the Northwest’s best freshwater fishing opportunities and the latest techniques for catching bass and panfish. Expert anglers, along with members of the OSU Bass team, will demonstrate fishing strategies and techniques in hourly “through-the-glass” presentations.


Lowrance Learning Center: Grab a front row seat at the Lowrance Learning Center and learn about the latest advances in cutting-edge GPS products. This year’s edition, “New Features and Techniques for Better Fishing,” gives show-goers a hands-on opportunity to check out the company’s newest products. Expert Larry Hutchens’ presentation on “Insight Genesis Mapping” includes the High Definition System (HDS) Gen3 fishfinder/chartplotter series – the next revolutionary step forward for the top-selling and award-winning multi-function display.
